15 May 2020 - Coronas Virus Update From The Executive
I hope you are all well and managing to stay 'match fit' from your homes.
Following the entirely clear and not one bit muddled announcement from the government last weekend, we anticipated further guidance on recreational sport this week. The ECB has now issued guidance for the use of nets in keeping with social distancing requirements.
The club cannot wait to have members back training at the ground. However, we are not yet in a position to reopen the club and our training facilities. Please do not attempt to use the nets over the weekend.
The chairman and committee are on the case, aiming to have facilities ready to use safely as soon as possible. You will be informed, via the usual channels, when the nets are open and what the process for booking/reserving a space will be. A more detailed update on general club matters will also follow.
Please continue to respect social distancing regulations and all government advice when using the club grounds.
Take care - Beddo Management Committee
28 March 2020 - Coronas Virus Update From The Executive
As you will all be aware, we are having to make significant changes to the plans for the upcoming season. We are all having to manage during a truly unique set of challenges and our plans are continuing to evolve but we wanted to take a moment to let people know what the situation is now.
As things stand, all junior and adult training has been stopped and we are not expecting to have any further indoor training. We are in contact with the Surrey Championship, the ECB and the local authorities and we will wait for their permission before starting outdoor training.
This also means that at present we have postponed our workforce day and we are not expecting to be able to complete our pre-season tour to Portsmouth. Having said all that, we are hoping to start the season at some point and there are a number of preparations that can be made for this.
There will be a big financial impact to the club and we are working hard with the appropriate authorities to minimise that. Right now that comes a distant second to our concern for the health and wellbeing of our members, their families and friends and our community as a whole.
We had big plans for this summer and we are hopeful that we will still be able to play a lot of cricket and achieve some of our goals for the year. Right now all we can ask is for people to please stay safe, stay healthy and we will get through this as quickly as we can. When we do get back out there we will be sure to make the absolute most of it.
Keep in touch. We’ll keep you updated.
