Asad Butt Awarded British Empire Medal

29 Apr 2024

Asad Butt, Director of Junior Coaching, awarded British Empire Medal for services to Young People and the Community of the London Borough of Croydon

Beddington Cricket Club would like to congratulate our Director of Junior Coaching, Asad Butt, on his award of the British Empire Medal recently through his voluntary work with the charity Chance to Shine, which works to inspire young people through Cricket.

Please see below some words from Asad on the award:

I'm delighted to share that I have been officially awarded the British Empire Medal (BEM) following inclusion in the King's Honours list for 2024. This medal holds immense significance for me, and I'm incredibly grateful to my friends, family, colleagues, and mentors for their support over the years.

Receiving this award is a tremendous honour—one that will fuel my determination to continue making a difference, knowing that even the smallest actions can have a positive impact on the lives of young people.

I extend my gratitude to the Prime Minister's Cabinet Office for recommending me for this award, and to the Lord-lieutenant for the opportunity in the Palace to share the stage alongside some remarkable individuals who are doing truly inspirational work in the UK to enhance the lives of others.
