Welcome to the new season at Beddington Cricket Club!!

RisebroR
First of all I would like to say welcome to some new players who have joined Beddington this year:

Ian Messom is a top order batsman and wicketkeeper. Ian (Mess) has been a big run scorer at his previous club and I hope that he can produce the same consistency for us.

George, an all rounder and Dan, a seam bowler have also joined Ian in coming to Beddington from Addiscombe Cricket Club.

We also welcome back Tom Lewis from Horsley & Send now that he has completed his studies.

I am pleased to announce that Beddingtons overseas player this year is Aaron O'Connor. Aaron is a 20 year old from Western Australia who made his A Grade debut last winter for his club side Midland-Guildford Cricket Club. Aaron is a top order batsman who averaged 40 last season, and also contributed with 15 wickets from his leg spin. Aaron looks to be an exciting prospect for the club bringing both youth and experience, not just to the 1st XI but to other members of the adult section and also the Colts.

A very warm welcome from all at the club to you guys.

With the additions of these new players the club has strengthened over the Winter and the 1st XI will be looking to finish in the top section of the 1st Division of the Surrey Championship.

This strengthening obviously filters down through the sides, and therefore the 2nd XI will also be looking to finish in the top half of the Premiership having retained their status.

The 3rd XI are looking for promotion this season and if they can keep a regular side together then they have an excellent chance of achieving this.

The 4th XI, also with the consistency of avaiability, can push for promotion in the AJ Sports League and with the additions to the club and no departures, Beddington will be looking to field a 5th XI on a Saturday more regularly.

I would like to wish the whole of Beddington Cricket Club the best of seasons with the bat, ball or in the field. Enjoy your cricket and i'm sure I'll see you in the bar for a pint and a chat.

Best Wishes

Richard Risebro
1stXI Captain
