Congratulations to Tom Symons who scored his maiden Beddo century on Saunday 23rd May playing for the Sunday Half Day XI.

 

Tom's is the latest of an extraordinary number of hundreds scored by Beddington members in the first 3 weeks of the season and have been scattered through the XI's.

 

Scott Dance followed up his 150+ in the pre-season friendly against Leatherhead with a fine 109 not out in his first completed 2nd XI game.

 

Graham Lester took it upon himself to beat that feat the following week scoring 130 in the 2nd XI loss against Ashtead, his highest league score. Even more remarkable was the feat of Ryan May in the 3rd XI league game against Sinjun Grammarians. Batting at 9 and entering the action at 178 for 7 (which became worse as Will Brown became the 8th wicket to fall with the score on 178), Ryan smashed 106 not out and aided by Gary Morris (33*), 148 more runs were added with no further loss. This took the teams score to 326 allowing skipper Gardner to declare after 50.5 overs. Unfortunatley (as with Tom's and Graham's scores) Ryan's efforts were not enough to secure victory.

 

Although only in week 3 of the season proper, we have already seen more centuries than in the whole of 2009....long may the runs continue!
