Cummins to Mount 3 Peaks (October 26, 2009)
Dear All,

This is an email being sent to a variety of people, some of whom I have spoken to already regarding the 24 hour three peaks challenge that I am attempting, to some others this may be the first you have heard of this charity expedition and finally to those who have sponsored me already, thank you, I am extremely grateful and here is some more information about the task in hand!!!!!

In aid of MNDA (Motor Neurone Disease Association) and the PCA (Professional Cricketers Association) Benevolent Fund together with some other professional cricketers I am undertaking the above challenge.  For me this is a follow up to the amazing experience I had in 2007 when I undertook Everest Base camp also with the PCA.

During my time at Northamptonshire County Cricket Club I had a many dealings with MNDA because Lee Daggett (another player and very good friend of mine) and I became ambassadors for the County with the MNDA and we hope that we have managed to set up a long term link between the two organisations.  This stemmed from the original idea of using the player’s training shirts as a valuable piece of free advertising for the Association.

The Benevolent Fund is part of the PCA’s commitment in helping current and former players and their dependants in times of hardship, upheaval or to readjust to the world beyond the game.  This is also an issue very close to my heart as I have just been told that my playing days as a pro are over due to an inoperable back condition.

The Challenge

    • -         Three mountains
    • -         27 miles of trekking. (approx 12 hours).
    • -         9800 feet of ascent
    • -         12 hours of driving 640 miles.
    • -         All within 24 hours

It’s going to be a long day and night!!!!!!

I do hope that you might be able to help support me in this venture.  To do so you can donate at;

With best wishes

Ryan Cummins
