Colts to be England 20/20 Mascots (May 20, 2009)
Please see the letter below to the Colts parents from Organise Graham Parker.

Dear Parents,

World Twenty20 Mascots

Beddington under 11s have been asked to provide the mascots for the World Twenty20 matches at the Oval on Saturday 13 June. This is a big honour for the club and follows from our trip to the England vs South Africa game at the Oval last year.

The organisers have asked us to provide 22 boys and girls (from the u9 to u11 age groups) to escort both teams onto the pitch for the national anthems at both the 1.30 and 5.30 games. Obviously it depends how teams perform in the group matches but looking at the draw it's possible the teams will be England vs New Zealand and Australia vs India.

All mascots will be supplied with hats, shirts and track pants by the sponsor LG and will be supplied with food and drink on the day. In addition we're allowed to take eight adults to chaperone the children. We expect these to be predominantly club coaches, who are CRB checked and trained in safeguarding children. However, because some of our coaches play for the club sides on Saturday we may also ask some parents to help out on the trip.

Clearly, this is a wonderful opportunity and we expect demand to exceed the supply of places, so I wanted to be totally open with you about how we will decide which children we can offer places to. We will give priority to children who have represented the club u11 side, to those who take part in the Friday night sessions, and to those who attend the half-term Chance to Shine course.

I look forward to seeing you all on Friday night, and just a reminder we have a u11 game away at Old Wimbledonians on Sunday morning.

Best wishes
