A Charter Mark Club 2008

8th September 2008

To All  Members,

Last Saturday at Esher, I was privileged to be selected for the First Eleven in a vital game with 1st division status in the balance. I would personally like to thank everyone who came to support us, especially Steve Cowlin and Sheila who brought the forks , and Willy Brown who brought  the Bowdry from Beddington , which once again showed why it was an invaluable piece of equipment purchased by the club. The whole team brought new & old towels and while Esher looked on in astonishment, we cleared gallons of water from the square and surrounding areas. It was a magnificent effort that led to the Umpires & Esher eventually agreeing that the wicket was playable and the outfield safe to play on.

After playing in both steady rain and appalling light towards the end, we gained 4 points that whilst not being sufficient to ensure survival, showed the team spirit necessary to take the Club forward from the top .

My thanks to the Esher 1St team and the Umpires for their part in a memorable day in the annals of Beddington CC.

I look forward to seeing you all on Sunday at the Club

Tony Cummins

President
