Latest NewsYouth Cricket Bats Needed! (September 02, 2008)Danny Baker (a club member for 12 years) works for a cricket charity called Cricket for Change and works with disability groups as well as young people from impoverished/poor backgrounds.
In October and November, Danny is going on two life changing trips to help create cricket playing opportunities for disadvantaged young people. First stop is Panama where the charity will be setting up a Visually Impaired cricket programme and second stop is Sierra Leone where a physical disability programme is being launched to work with amputees and young people who lost limbs or have now got a physicval disability due to the civil war. The charity survives on the kind donations of the public and Beddington CC have been extremely helpful in donating equipment and time in improving young peoples lives. The charity are having an appeal to try and come across some small bats (sizes 5 to harrow would be good) so we can take these out to the trips. They are lighter and easier to play disability and V.I cricket with and if anybody can help either with donating their spare bats to the charity, or financial funds to buy some cheap ones, the charity will be massively in your debt. Either bring them down the club asap or speak to Danny on 07796266212. Thank you Beddington CC again for your continual support of disability cricket.
